Admissions

From first look to first day

Four steps, no mystery. We walk you through every one, and you can change your mind at any point along the way.

  1. Step 1

    Book a tour

Thirty minutes on a normal working morning, shown round by the manager or deputy, and yes, bring your child. You will see the room and the garden, meet the team and ask anything at all.

  2. Step 2

    Register your interest

Complete our application form with your details, your child's age and the sessions you are hoping for. We reply with availability, or with an honest picture of the waitlist.

  3. Step 3

    Secure your place

We confirm your sessions and start date in writing, you return the signed contract and deposit, and the place is yours. [TO CONFIRM: deposit amount and terms]

  4. Step 4

    Settle in

September starters join our stay and play week at the start of Term 1, and mid year starters get taster visits built around them. By the first full day the room, the faces and the coat peg are already familiar.

If we are full

The waitlist, honestly

If your preferred sessions are full we will say so plainly and offer the waitlist. It works in date order of registration, with priority for siblings, and when a place opens we ring the next family on the list. How long it takes varies by room and time of year; we will give you our honest best guess for your dates rather than a vague soon. [TO CONFIRM: typical waitlist times]

Settling in

The first fortnight, in detail

Settling in starts about two weeks before the official start date. The first taster is an hour with you there. Then an hour without you. Then a longer session with lunch, and by the end of the fortnight your child has done a near full day and knows exactly where the pegs, the toilets and the best toys are. The pace flexes around your child; some need two sessions, some need six, and nobody is rushed.

On the days in between, ring whenever you like. Someone will go and look at your child, right then, and tell you exactly what they are doing. Usually the answer is something like painting, or eating their second banana. That phone call is yours for as long as you need it, first week or fortieth.

What to bring on the first day

  • Named spare clothes, two sets
  • The comfort toy or blanket, if there is one
  • Any medicines, handed to the team and signed in
  • A packed lunch, if your child stays for the lunch hour
  • A family photo for the family wall
